Benefits of Seasoned Wood

Using seasoned hardwood helps keep your flue cleaner by reducing creosote buildup. Woods like oak, maple, or birch release less moisture and burn hotter.

Seasoned wood is usually dried for at least six months. It burns efficiently, reducing the amount of smoke and soot that can accumulate in the flue.

Hardwoods vs. Softwoods

Hardwoods are denser and burn longer, making them more efficient for heating and cleaner for your chimney. They are recommended over softwoods like pine, which burn faster and release more sap.

Burning softwoods can increase creosote buildup due to their sticky residue and higher moisture content.

Storage and Preparation

Store your firewood properly to ensure it remains dry. Keep it off the ground and covered, but allow air circulation to keep moisture levels low.

Split wood into smaller pieces to aid in the drying process. Smaller pieces will dry quicker and burn more efficiently when used.
